Local Laziness

After a few minutes of lying there, he realized he’d placed his glass on the far side of the table, out of reach. Instead of sitting up and picking up his glass, he found a clothes hanger that was wedged between the cushions and hooked the leg of the coffee table with it to drag the table closer.

I have a friend who’s particularly susceptible to attacks of basic laziness. For example, one day when we were relaxing together, he decided to take a rest on the couch. He poured himself a drink, placed it on the coffee table, and then lay down on the sofa.

Predictably, the drink fell off the table. We often expend much more energy being lazy than it would take to deal with our life straightforwardly.

An Eco-Hanger

HangerNetwork's "Eco-Hanger" is made entirely out of thick recycled paper, which is folded into a clothes hanger shape then glued and laminated. The company bills the clothes hangers as strong but flexible, and plays up their quick decomposition.

This latter part is not just important for ecological reasons; HangerNetwork makes all its income from selling ad space on the Eco-Hangers. Because consumers bring the hangers into their homes, and because clothes hangers stay in the closet an average of six to eight weeks, they provide a highly efficient advertising medium.

According to Kantor, HangerNetwork is already making "multimillions" in ad sales. Companies that have purchased ads so far include Dunkin' Donuts, L'Oreal, Mitchum and Van Heusen. The company also recently received $8 million in venture capital from Kodiak Venture Partners and Sigma Partners, which it is using to pay for the costs of the nationwide expansion.

Wire clothes hangers now have eco-friendly, recyclable alternative: Eco-Hanger

"3.5 billion wire hangers go into U.S. landfills every year, and they sit in there for over a hundred years," said Bob Kantor, CEO of HangerNetwork.

The company mass-produces the Eco-Hangers and distributes them for free to dry cleaners in its market cities. The hangers are distributed free to encourage dry cleaners, who normally pay 8 cents apiece for wire hangers, to order them and send them home with customers.

The hangers appear to be growing in popularity. Cleaners Supply, the largest dry cleaning supply distributor in the United States, has a link on the front page of its web site where dry cleaners can order the free Eco-Hangers or request more information.

Clothes Hanger Theft

I was disturb when I was in a hotel by something that call clothes hangerthelf. It's really hard to imagine!

Ok.  I just want to know: Is clothes hangertheft really that big of a problem in hotels? Is it such a problem that they have to annoy the guests with those tiny topped and multi-stage clotheshangers that are a pain to hang and don't fit over the showerrod for those of us that don't like to iron and would rather steam the wrinkles out while showering?

Dry your clothes fast

Dry clothesof similar weights to avoid over drying.
Remove delicates (such as bras and certain sweaters) to air dry on a clothes rackor clothes hanger.
Check tags of clothing to make sure they can be dried in a dryer.
Do not overload the dryer. As this uses more energy and takes longer to dry, plus it does no good for your dryer.
Select the correct drying temperature for your laundryload: low for delicates, medium for most fabrics and high for cotton. When in doubt, low or medium is the safest bet.
Add an anti-static sheet, in the dryer to stop static cling.
Remove lint from the dryer’s lint tray.
Once the clothesare completely dry, remove them from the dryer or drying rackand fold your clean laundry.

Saturday is not so good

Now, I just read a rumor that has major grounding that Madonna will tour next year. Can't wait. Well, I hope the upcoming album is good, though.

I got trapped in my room this morning for about 20 minutes. The door handle wouldn't turn so I couldn't unlatch the lock (latch is not the right word, I don't know what is). I proceeded to take the door hinges off, but then found out the door can only be removed when it is out of it's closed position. I finally figured to get a wire clothes hangerand stuck it in the slit between the jamb and the door - us clothes hangerto get the "latch" to move and the door to open. I really had to poop.

HALLOWEEN time

Laurie has no idea what fate has in store for her that Halloween night; that she is going to have to transform herself to survive. She was and is a hero of mine because she grabbed that knitting needle, because she grabbed that clothes hanger, because she became someone she never knew she was.

The first time I saw HALLOWEEN it was on television and I was babysitting two kids at the time! Of course I immediately identified and was moved by Laurie’s sense of responsibility towards the kids in her care. I’ve probably watched clothes hanger once a year ever since. It wasn’t until later in life that I realized that I related to her for another reason altogether. I grew up in a very abusive household. Running around the halls of a suburban house screaming for my life was like second nature to me. The scene that I love the most is when Laurie is in class and her teacher is talking about how fate is an unmovable object.

we dress babies funny

Sometimes adorable outfits are better left on the clothes hanger.

I’ve learned quickly that babies want to be dressed as babies, not as miniature versions of adults. And as for the doll clothes, they’re better left on dolls.

It’s hard to resist adorable baby clothes. Not only has Sophia received quite a few wonderful outfits with clothes hangers from family and friends, but I succumb to the kids department at every store I enter. Now that we’re back in Richmond I’ve stopped by the used and consignment stores as well.

Sophia took particular objection to one outfit that I couldn’t wait for her to grow into. It is a plush pink jumper embroidered with ladybugs, bees and butterflies. It has a white cotton collar on the neckline with a cute ladybug embroidered in the center. I thought it would be great.

How to make the most of this very small space?

How to make the most of this very small space?

Answer:

Seriously, most of the time closet space comes is at a premium, so you must utilize every inch. The right type of clothes hangers is key an item like a multi-tiered shirt or pants hanger can save space and have clothes fit neatly in small spaces. Consider adding another rod for short hang items since most college wardrobes are heavy on short clothes hangers pieces. Another product used to increase space and keep things from tumbling down is stacking shelves. If you prefer your sweaters and sweatshirts at eye level, use a hanging sweater bag that attaches to the closet rod. Dont forget about the floor space -- short stacking baskets work well in this space.

Todays college student may have a lot more organization and storage options than we did in years past, but with a small budget, some advance planning, clear lines of communication with roommates and a sense of humor, organizing their space can be easily accomplished and they can focus on whats really important about college. I was referring to learning what did you think I meant?

Hanging presents

After that, we took a metal clothes hanger (The plastic clothes hanger is probably smarter for younger kiddos) and went to town hanging them on it. They totally look like they are flying all over the place and it was a fun, silly craft that took about one hour total including the bat lesson.

So, all you really need is the Internet, construction paper, a pen, scissors, a needle, thread and a clothes hanger.

The cool thing about the CWF Wild About Bats poster is that it gives you the names, drawings and habitat location for all of the different bats throughout the country. So, we counted up the bats on the map and made a plan to make a bat mobile with all of them on it.

So, I thought while she may not get all excited about the clothes hangers, we’d whip out our bat gear, learn a few things about our flying friends (bats are amazing) in Canada and give her a reason to love it all in that we made a big, giant mess out of the dining room crafting up our very own bat mobile.

The Snob things

As I was checking out a rack of clothes, a blouse fell off its clothes hanger. Because I was carrying multiple shopping bags on my left hand, I struggled to rehang the blouse with my right hand. The Snob didn’t rush up to help. She stood watching, three metres away.

I’ve met many haughty shop assistants in expensive boutiques who turn their noses up at you if you walk into their shop without having at least one clothes hanger of Gucci, Prada or Louis Vuitton on your person.

When I finally manged to set the blouse right, I turned to look at her. She was staring at me with a borderline hostile look on her greasy, pimply face. What a pity, because I had seen several things I liked in the shop with clothes hanger and was planning to spend some money.

But this particular Snob I met was manning a no-name shop selling cheap stuff in a second-rate shopping mall. When I walked in, she walked out of her counter. She didn’t walk towards me but stood on the far end of the shop to watch me silently.

clothes hanger murder

A witness told investigators he and Domer approached two men in an area where several gay bars are located. The man Domer was with said he left because he felt “uncomfortable with the situation.”

The man told police he thinks Domer returned to the area to meet the two men after Domer dropped him off, Lahue wrote.

Domer’s body was found Nov. 4 dumped in a ditch in McClain County. His body was bound with duct tape, and a wire clothes hanger was wrapped around his neck, according to the affidavit. Domer’s car was found burned on Oct. 30.

The affidavit filed by Lahue was used to obtain a search warrant in McClain County for the home of Darrell Madden.

Police searched Madden’s home Nov. 6 in connection with Domer’s death, seizing a computer, disks and a spiral notebook labeled as a “Hitler letter.” They also took burned wires and clothes hangers with duct tape on them and three hand-operated winches with duct tape on them, according to a warrant return filed in McClain County.

Good Cover Designs

These clothes hangers are made of the highest quality material and do not twist, rot, warp or decay. Wood is being replaced with aluminum as it is maintenance-free, providing protection from the sun and rain for extended periods. Solar design patio covers and clothes hangers are ideal in areas with plenty of sunlight. These covers, along with offering shade, produce clean and environmentally friendly electricity.

The patio could be for general use or a utility room to place a grill, clothes hanger, a table and few chairs; for entertaining purposes; a hobby or recreation room or an all weather living area for you and family pets.

Selecting a Patio Cover Design is a personal choice. If an architect designed the patio then the cover has to be of appropriate quality and custom made. But if the patio has been done by you, then decide on a cover and the clothes hanger that is easily fixed and durable. The neighbors Patio Cover does look good but it might be out of budget or would not match with house layout and usage.

Designs are plentiful, from colored or striped awnings for partial covers, patio clothes hangers for limited area cover, or solid aluminum or wood patio covers for complete protection against sun and rain. The wood or aluminum wood Patio Cover could be practical and fashionable and is available in a lattice or dome-shaped design.

Tidy your closets

To refresh an old cedar closet or chest, sand the boards.

HANGER BRAKES
Wrap a rubber band tightly around the end of the hook on a clothes hanger to stop it from falling off the closet rod. The rubber will act as a brake if the clothes hanger starts to slip.

CEDAR
Cedar smells great and protects your clothes from moths and carpet beetles. To make a cedar-lined closet, nail pieces of cedar right onto the walls. Or paint your closet with cedar oil (available at most hardware stores).

There’s also a range of cedar products such as clothes hangers, hooks and balls, and liners for drawers, garment bags, and boxes.

To keep clothes hangers from bunching up on a wooden clothes rod, put rubber-headed tacks about an inch apart on top of the rod.

HANGER SPACERS
If your clothes are getting pushed together and wrinkled while hanging in a closet, try replacing the clothes hanger rod with a piece of chain. Hook the clothes hangers into the links, and the chain will keep your clothes separated.

HOOK PROTECTORS
To prevent coat hooks from damaging your clothes, skewer small sponge-rubber balls on the hooks.

MOISTURE
To reduce dampness in a closet or storage area, tie six to 12 pieces of chalk in a bundle. Hang the bundle in the closet. The chalk will absorb moisture.

Hi-tech clothes hanger

At the moment the Ion clothes hanger is a concept, so is not comercially available.

Thanks to designer Jun Kurihara, your rather mundane, rudimentary clothes hanger could soon not only help to keep creasing of your clothing at bay but could also help to breathe a little life back into the fabric by removing odours such as stale cigarette smoke thanks to this design’s embedded Ion technology – all housed in a highly portable, folding design will easily fit into the smallest of travel bags.

This great concept almost slipped passed unnoticed by us, so let’s act to rectify that now as this is a great example of cleverly conceived design.

Mobile Made From a Clothes Hanger

Now you can have your child attach the kites to the clothes hanger. Again, varying lengths of yarn can be used for this purpose, however try to encourage your little one to space them along the clothes hanger in a relatively even manner to ensure balance. This is not rocket science, it doesnt have to be exact, just roughly balanced.

Now you are almost ready to hang the work of art. Have your child participate in the selection process of where to hang the mobile in his or her room. Once a suitable location has been agreed to (away from ceiling fans and the like), tie a piece of yarn to the hook of the clothes hanger. This will allow the clothes hanger to rotate freely and be a true mobile. Then, attach the top of the yarn to the ceiling, either by tying it to a hook, or using a stapler, thumb tack or push pin.

This is an excellent way to let your child participate in the decoration of his or her room while at the same time having fun working on a creative crafts project!

All you will need for this project is probably already laying around your house. Find a wire clothes hanger, some yarn, some colorful construction paper, glue, and decorating materials, such as paint, markers, crayons, stickers, glitter, etcetera.

Catwalk Clothes Hangers

The trouble is many young girls are looking at clothes hangers - not the clothes.

When Spanish authorities placed weight limitations on runway models - designer Karl Lagerfeld responded by saying that the models are not too skinny. Largerfeld wasn't the only one.

Some months ago I mentioned that "Your body is not just a clothes hanger for other people to gawk at". One commenter (accurately) pointed out that "Top runway models are actually intended to be walking clothes hangers!".

My remarkable condition

It is in remarkable condition despite the age. The only problem areas are the lock and snap on cover that covered the clothes hanger area. There is some wear to the outside and edges of the drawers but no real serious damage that we can see.

In the next few days we will be listing this wonderful old Belber Wardrobe Trunk. Belber had locations in Philadelphia, Chicago and New York in the late 1800’s and early 1900’s. This particular piece is probably circa 1920’s.

This will be a hot item to watch as we are starting the bidding at $9.99. Keep watching our auctions for this steamer / wardrobe trunk to start.

Throwing Old Clothes

So, how did I know which clothes I haven't worn at all this year? My shirts/blouses/sweaters have to face a certain way in the closet. When I put them on the clothes hanger, the clothes always face to the left. If not, it drives me nuts. When I put out clothes this past Spring, I hung them up to face the opposite way. As I wore the clothes, washed and hung up, I would put them on the clothes hanger facing the "correct" way. Last night I could tell exactly which clothes had not been worn because they were all facing the opposite direction from the clothes that I wear frequently. My frequently worn clothes are packed up for next season and the others are bagged up to be sent to a friend in Illinois.

Last Spring when I put up my Winter clothes and brought out my Spring and Summer wear, I made a pact with myself that anything that I did not wear one time by the time Winter clothes came back out again would physically leave the house. Since it's getting cold weather in the South, I had to break out the Winter clothes last night. I went to the closet with two extra large garbage bags. As I took clothes off the clothes hanger, they went straight in to the bag if they had not been worn. Only a handful of clothes survived being stuffed in the trash bag.

I've done the same for my Winter clothes, so next Spring I should be getting rid of more clothes. I need to do the same for Hubby since he is such a girl when it comes to his clothes and does not like to discard anything even if he hasn't worn it for years.

Toss-It Tips

See if there are specific items the charity needs; this will make those things easier to give up. If it doesn't accept certain items — such as that combination NordicTrack/clothes hanger — ask if it knows of a group that does.

Get your kids involved, too, so they can see what it's like to give.

If an item is truly worthless or beyond repair, don't make the organization deal with it. Find out the proper way to junk it instead.

Don't just leave your stuff outside the charity's storefront or in a donation bin, to be ruined by the elements. Deliver it in person, or find out if the organization will arrange a pickup from your home.

Two basic types of clothes hangers

There are two basic types of clothes hangers, the wire clothes hanger, a simple loop of wire in a flattened triangle shape, with the wire continuing into a hook at the top, and the wooden clothes hanger, a flat piece of wood cut into a boomerang-like shape, and with the edges sanded down to prevent damage to the clothing, with a hook, usually of metal, protruding from the point. Some wooden hangers have a rounded bar from tip to tip, forming a flattened triangle, this bar is designed to hang the trousers belonging to the jacket. There are also plastic coat hangers, which mostly mimic the shape of either a wire or wooden hanger. Plastic coat hangers are also produced in smaller sizes to accommodate the shapes of children’s clothes.

A garment bag is designed to accommodate a clothes hanger with clothes such that the hanging hook protrudes from the top of the garment bag.

Foldable clothes hangers that are designed to be inserted through the collar area to make it easier to use, and reduce stretching are a new, yet useful variation on traditional clothes hangers.

Some hangers have clips along the bottom for suspending skirts. Dedicated skirt and trousers hangers may dispense with the triangular shape and just be a rod with clips. Specialized pant hanger racks may accommodate many pairs of trousers.

The vinegar

When I was a little older, one day, my dad, while mowing the grass hit a clothes hanger with the mower and a piece of the hanger hit him in the leg. My mom had put wire clothes hangers, stuck in the ground around her flower garden to keep the dogs out of her flowers. And my dad not seeing one hit it with the mower.

Well my mom doctored it and it seemed like it just wouldnt get better. Then one morning my dad woke up and a blue line was going up his leg, Blood poisoning ;off to the doctor for tetanus ,and clothes hangers shots. My dad was going to be ok but was suppose to stay in bed for a few days. So my dad was in the bedroom my mom was in the kitchen and I said Daddy says he wants you to put some vinegar on his leg

My mom poured some vinegar in a little dish and got some sterile cloth and headed for the bedroom as I headed for the back door. I heard my dad yell HEY WHAT ARE YOU TRYING TO DO TO KILL ME, I ALMOST HAD A HEART ATTACK!--- as I ran for the barn.

The Ultimate Dystopia

In this nightmare future, rape victims aren't allowed access to an abortion, because no one can conceive to make an exception in this case. It isn't possible. Women ritualistically stab themselves with clothes hangers, completely unaware of the deadly consequences, because they have no other choice. Not only have they lost their right to an abortion, but they've lost their right to choose not to stab themselves in the uterus with a clothes hanger, because that is a natural consequence of overturning Roe vs. Wade.

Welcome to a world where police spend all day long investigating miscarriages because they might have been induced miscarriages which might have violated the law. The police hve no choice. They HAVE to investigate every miscarriage, ever, even the ones they never hear about.

In this bleak futuristic land, women as young as 16 are charged with murder and thrown in jails with clothes hangers for terminating pregnancies, because it is impossible to charge the doctor with the crime and because we can't make up a new crime with a new punishment. The land is ashen, gray, and infertile.

Women are raped, tortured, imprisoned, all with reckless abandon, before finally stabbing themselves to death with clothes hangers. The police are swamped with miscarriage leads and tracking down teenage girls. Underground abortion mafias have come to power, becoming rich and threatening to usurp governmental power, wreaking havoc across the country.

All of this because of the consequences of overturning a single Supreme Court ruling whose natural consequences are absolutely inavoidable and certain. Nothing can be done; in short, we are doomed."

Magnetic Clothes Hangers

Now you don’t need to organize your clothes on the metallic bars that occupy space in closet, because you can use magnets. These clothes hangers replace the hook with a magnet, accompanied by a suspended piece of metal to allow full freedom of arrangement and display.

The clothes hangers and clothing spaces have largely remained in the same format over the years. So designer Daniel decided to change the old hangers, and came with new and innovative idea.

If the magnets are that strong wont it be hard to pull them off?And if too weak wont be able to hang heavy items as said above….

I agree it would be hard to slide them too…

What about close from the cleaners you hang up in your car on the hooks made for hangers? need a magnet in the car now too?I ussually hang shirt over doors too before i wear when im getting ready….
Sorry to bash it cause i love new ideas, but id rather sitck with my hangers…Also i use wire clothes hangers to clean my bong, id die with out them
