Consider the garment

Consider the garment. This is the component that is going to give your merchandise the ‘wow’ factor on the garment rack. Make sure that you are using a hanger that was designed for the particular article you are displaying. For instance, men’s suits look best on contoured hangers made of wood or heavy plastic that simulate a male shoulder. Lingerie is best displayed on satin lingerie hangers. Wooden and plastic skirt hangers work well for displaying a skirt under a business suit jacket. Keep in mind that hangers designed for the specific article of clothing are the best choice for giving the garment a realistic, attractive appearance.

We all use clothes hangers daily, without much thought to their value. But in the world of retail sales, the clothes hanger is one of the most important sales tools in the store. Think about it. You are out for an afternoon shopping trip with friends. You spot a dress that seems to scream your name from across the store. You walk closer, take it off the garment rack, turn it around a few times, and decide to try it on. But why? Maybe you liked the cut, the pattern and the color. But chances are you were initially drawn to that dress because of the way it was hung. Would have it caught your eye if it had been folded up on a table or placed on a regular plastic clothes hanger with one strap hanging off? Probably not. This example illustrates the power that the clothes hanger has in a retail environment as a sales tool.

The Secret helps woman get garment rack

Aldonna "Godis" Smith watched the movie for the first time about two months ago. In small, simple ways, she says all her desires are being fulfilled. For example, Smith wanted a tall garment rack for her loft. A few days after she thought about it, a neighbor coincidentally called to ask if she needed a tall garment rack.

The Secret helps woman get big new garment rack. Who says the producers of The Secret don’t care about those starving, war-weary, and possibly AIDS-infected waifs? The Secret will save them all. The article quotes a skeptic who says The Secret is vapid and possibly dangerous, but Hayes ends on a high note, with an example of a person who tells how The Secret changed her outlook on life.

another garment rack

"If Dad and Annalise need a ring boy at their wedding, I'll keep it in mind." She stifled a sneeze as he ripped feverishly through another garment rack, releasing puffballs of gray dust. "So where d'you keep the plain ordinary clothes?"

"Bloody hell--" He was tossing jerkins and farthingales and Ian Drury T-shirts every which way, swearing under his breath. "My coat, where's my coat?"

"How the hell would I know?" She gestured helplessly at the endless garment racks filling every corner of the TARDIS wardrobe, a jumble sale post-typhoon. "Look, never mind, just drop me at whatever the Venusian equivalent is of Marks and Sparks and I'll--"

She tried very hard not to laugh, and failed miserably, as he looped an arm in hers and marched her relentlessly round the garment racks: Come on now, don't be shy, no money down no salesman will visit your home, why not accessorize with this smart silk parasol, wouldn't the lady look smashing in this Viking tunic, fancy an authentic Highlander kilt by any chance? Slightly less authentic Mao suit? A nice fisherman's jumper? Only slightly naughty white Victorian nightie--no, actually perhaps not, bit tatty when you really look at it, can't go promising the universe and delivering cheap tat, in fact definitely not, how about these lovely pink-striped overalls instead?

Pick up a garment rack

So if anyone knows where I could could get a plain old commercial type garment rack let me know. Or maybe I should just go out to the workshop and put one together out of 2x4's and the rod from the master closet, would be cheaper.

I also picked up a new ice scraper and little car 'catch all' that hangs in the vent, I am sucker for the car assessory section at CT.. don't ask me why but I think I have bought atleast 2 dozen different cup holders and other crap there to try to make my cars more beverage friendly over the years. Most of them are crap just like the garment rack and I think this latest purchase will more of the same. Will let you know if it works or if it goes to the cupholder graveyard with the rest of them.

While I was there I decide to see if they had a garment rack of some sort to hang all the clothes that are currently in my master closet that will be going away due to the upcoming construction. Well it seemed like it would do the trick it had 2 separate racks one higher than the other, so I proceed to unload the closet not thinking that I need to put clothes on it evenly.. nooo I fill up the shorter rack first and of course the bloody thing tipped over on me. so I get a clue and add clothes evenly and proceed to fill it up. Well now I need to move it into the spare room.. Not going to happen b/c the bloody thing barely made it through the doorway w/out clothes, it sure as hell isn't going to make it with clothes, so the whole thing was an effort in rework and a bit of stupidity on my part. But anyways I think after all that I will be taking it back b/c like I said I am expecting the cheap thing to fall apart any minute, just plain cheap.

Dress Yourself Rich

Pick clothes that flatter:

Chic clothes never bunch, hang, sag, or constrict your breathing. They should graze over your silhouette, highlighting and enhancing your figure. If it doesnt flatter your figure, leave it on the garment rack. If it doesnt fit well, it will NEVER look good.

Avoid looking like a fashion victim:

One crucial element to dressing chic is to avoid looking like a walking billboard. More than one initial display of a designer name in one outfit makes you a fashion victim. Prominently displayed logos- real or knock-off, look cheesy and cheap. If you want to emulate a celebrity, think Gwyneth Paltrow, not Paris Hilton.

Look for quality:

You dont have to break the bank to buy quality garments. Just look for items within your price range that have excellent cuts and classic colors. Tip: when looking to buy a quality coat, make sure the inner lining is well constructed- if this finishing element is well made, you can rest assured that the rest of the garment is too.

Pay attention to details:

Looking chic doesnt have to be really expensive. Cheaper fabrics look more expensive if they are ironed. Change a cheap cardigan by replacing ugly plastic buttons with mother-of- pearl ones. Dressing chic is all about focusing on the details that make a garment stand out.

Hurt by the garment rack

Bad luck. My finger hurts by the garment rack. The garment rack didn't work wrong but my carelessness did it.

It actually kind of hurts to type, so I probably shouldn't write too much, but I did want to give a quick update on the life of pigeon.  Went on a bit of a shopping spree with my friend Verity today and bought a new pair of fuzzy-lined clogs.  They're super comfortable and I've been wearing them all evening around the house.  I also bought a garment rack and storage cubes for my room to help get my winter clothing out of basement storage and somewhere I can actually access it.  Perhaps the most important purchase of the day: a bag of Halloween Oreos.

My church here meets in rooms at the college and I feel the need to be in an actual church where I can see Jesus hanging up there on the cross.  I always feel the presence of God more when I'm in a church looking at Him.  I plan on going to mass tomorrow and I'm hoping that'll help.

I am still struggling a lot in my faith right now.  Worshipping is not getting easier.  I sing the songs, but I still feel like I'm just going through the motions and can't put much into it.  I know God is the one I'm always supposed to be able to trust, so why can't I? Why do I find myself questioning His involvement in my life?  I know He must be there, but then why  do things keep getting so screwed up?  I know I can't really get answers to these questions, they're just what I'm struggling with right now.  I think I need to go back to traditional worship for a little bit.

Be smart choosing garments

These stores can often be overwhelming – garment racks and racks of cheap faded cotton and slimy polyester in garish colors and prints that went out of vogue 15 minutes ago; take your time, shop the top of the garment rack (just as you would when thrifting) and look first for colors and fabrics that appeal to you, only then pull the garment from the garment rack and check to see if the cut is worthy of a trip to the fitting room. I have found lower-end items that were utter crap, but I have lower-end pieces that I have been wearing for near a decade and get far more compliments when worn than the designer duds in my closet.

I am always preaching “quality not quantity” to you on this blog, but do know quality can be found most anywhere. I have dresses and tops that look as great now as they did a year ago that were purchased at Target, Kmart, H&M and Forever 21. They are also pieces that a year or two after purchase, still look classic and fit into today’s styles.

As for those stores you find are too old/too young for you… well it doesn’t hurt to do a “figure-eight” through it on your way to the parking lot. I have a super cute navy twill blazer I wear all the time. I sport it with jeans and a ribbed tank for casual days, with chinos and a silk knit shell for spring work days. I always get compliments on its fit and style. Knowing my personal style, I am classic with a bit of funky/rocker thrown in and would never be the poster girl for a place like Talbots. However this cute blazer was found on their sale garment rack for only $14.99.

Need a garment rack

I've been troubled by my big mass of garments. They take much places and don't stay good.

Until i found franziska sinn's photography. lovely before & after pics of hotel rooms, untidy/tidy rooms, stacked/unstacked interiors and makeshift caves. one of the tidy/untidy rooms has a brilliant solution - a wire suspended between two walls. sure, there are issues with finding studs and making sure there is enough support but this is a huge breakthrough. ok, yes...i do have lots of clothes and therefore need a big garment rack.

I've been looking for a vintage garment rack for months now. i was this close [pinching fingers together a bit] to making one of my own out of metal pipes and such.

Freya and the garment rack

Freya was anxious when the painters arrived and I saw her peering out from between the clothes on the garment rack. I put her fruit-box bed beside me on the settee and here we sit, waiting out the siege.

Painter number 2 agreed that the stains on the wall were from water leakage. I phoned the office and got put through to the site manager who said he would send someone. They must be getting to know me by now.

The first time I saw her, in the house where she was being rehabilitated, I thought she was very beautiful. She is a grey tabby, pure, without any white patches, the perfect cat for a SilverTiger. I don’t know a lot about her history but from the few details I have and from observing her reactions I know she was not well treated.

Freya is nervous of all strangers but particularly afraid of men and this was a hurdle we had to overcome when she first came to live with me. I only had to make a movement, such as getting up from my chair and she would run away and hide behind the garment rack. In fact, for the first few weeks, all I saw of her was her fearful face staring out fearfully from behind the garment rack.

Little by little she came to trust me and is now very affectionate. She spends most of the night sleeping curled up against my legs and when the builders come, she is calmest when beside me as now. For my part I love her and feel her trust and affection to be a privilege. I regard it as a solemn commitment to look after her, to try to build up her confidence and chase away the bogeymen lurking from her previous life.

Happy for a new garment rack

One idea I saw on the Make link to this page was the idea of using a garment rack. While it may be a little small for the size I would normally like, I think the garment rack might work well for smaller sets (models?) and the idea itself could even be adapted to the PVC approach (add wheels, etc)...

Today was great! I bought this garment rack for my room at BBB and I am super excited to use it! Only took me, like, 10 or 15 minutes to assemble on my own- if that! It's weird in a way seeing my clothes hung up in the open like that, though.. they seem so vulnerable.. But I was so excited about putting the big pile on my desk onto the garment rack.

Then, before church, I had the best lunch/dinner ever. Salmon with white rice and asparagus, with toyomanci, lemon juice, and basil. I was so thankful to God, it was delicious and so healthy. My mom is such a great cook.

Winter works

Store your stuff out of sight. If you don’t have enough closet space, add storage by hiding a garment rack behind a curtain, using an armoire, installing a coat tree or hall stand, or by trying one of these storage ideas:

Winter. It’s a time of crisp air, gently falling snow, and piles of coats, slushy boots and soggy mittens in your front hall. This season, make your entryway organized and inviting.

A bench with built-in storage holds your stuff and offers a convenient spot to sit down and put your boots on.
A small bookshelf with labeled baskets is good for storing small items.
A chest of drawers can make your front hall look more like a furnished room, and it gives you a surface for photos, a lamp or incoming mail.

Make first impressions count. Give your door and garment racks a fresh coat of glossy paint, and put down a new doormat. Hang a nice winter wreath or plant an evergreen in a sturdy urn.

Working happily

I got a break to go outside and wander around in the PERFECT birthday weather and took lots of nature pictures and a few of the conference hall. I took a couple of those breaks. I did lots of intern jobs like ironing, arranging the garment rack, and also the enjoyable task of hand-mending the vintage white nightgowns which the designers, assistants, and musicians were going to wear for that night. I also did some dressing and did a lot of backstage photography with Johanna's digital camera, which she sorely needed. She is burning me a cd tonight so hopefully I can upload some of those tomorrow! Also, of course I did a lot of enjoyable networking with the designers, who, through Ekovaruhuset and the Fair Made exhibition, know each other quite well. All the fashions were made entirely with organic materials, painstakingly handmade (by which I mean hand-crocheted, hand-dyed, hand-knit, and a few were hand-spun, hand-woven, and hand-sewed), and were absolutely and utterly stunning!

So then of course after that we had to clean up the dressing room and organize the garment rack, and by this time it was 11 at night and I hadn't slept very well the night before and I felt like dropping. Somehow we made it onto the hired bus that took us back to Stockholm. Sunset lingered until after midnight, and it was beautiful all the way through.

It was, unsurprisingly, a smashing success, and although I pretty much worked all day on my birthday, I was excited and proud to be a part of it, and to be in that setting and look at all the beautiful models in their dresses and clothes in garment racks, and to watch a beautiful sunset, was worth it. I was really inspired by the entire experience for my own work, and I have a lot of great ideas simmering for my senior collection! I guess the only thing that could have really made the day better would have been to go swimming, which I love.

The Way to Display Products

The Mannequins and body forms are essential for enhancing merchandise, making it easier for customers to visualize how clothing will look on them. Conventional life size mannequins offer a flattering look to clothing, and are the most effective way to sell merchandise. The body forms and mannequin alternatives such as torso forms, dress forms, and shirt forms are lower in cost, and are not full-body displays like mannequins. The cost effective display stands with display hanger tops let you feature merchandise on counters, shelves, and as garment rack toppers.

We have many types of store supplies and equipment necessary to keep a retail store running smoothly. The clothes hangers are available in clear, black, and white in various styles and weights. We can choose from adult size or children?s hangers to hang dresses, blouses, skirts, shirts, pants, suits, and coats. The hanger accessories such as hanger stackers, foam pad hanger covers, reaching rods, size dividers, and specialty clips, hooks, and hang tabs all help solve retail problems for hard-to-hang merchandise. All Jiffy steamers are available in hand-held and floor model units, and are widely used to safely and quickly remove wrinkles from garments. The Bagging dispenser garment racks used with plastic garment bags on rolls offer protection for garments.

The clear acrylic displays offer many innovative fixtures, giving a clean look with the greatest eye appeal for your products. Built to display items on slat-wall, grid-wall, and countertop use, acrylic displays help you sell more merchandise, and are excellent for many accessory items including jewelry. On clear acrylic displays such as shelves, trays, bins, garment rack, sign holders, mirrors, easels, and display risers and cubes, there is a display available for almost every purpose.

garment rack for brunch

He helps her put the garment rack together, stands between the bars and begins Cat's Cradle. She thinks of the cat she had, its last two years alone in an apartment half the size of this storage space with the garment rack. Maybe a third the size, but there was a loft bed, and a ladder. Clumsy old cat, not very good at games, but she supposes this is what storage feels like. No strings. Too many strings. Even her fingers ripped apart today.

So she goes with a friend for brunch not dinner, because these days that's when she still has energy (they both cover their eyes as they pass the hat store), then on the way home stops to pick up a garment rack for the storage space, only it turns out this friend bought the same double-level rack and now doesn't have room for it. Call it a gift, a trade, a lucky charm.

A play with garment rack

This is a part of a play with garment rack. Both the man and the women are doing something with the garment rack.

She hangs his tie up on the garment rack and then proceeds to unbutton Prentice’s cuffs and the front buttons on his shirt then helps him remove it. After putting the shirt into Prentice’s hamper she takes his belt off and hangs it on the garment rack then helps him take his pants off, removes the contents of his pockets and places them on his dresser and hangs the pants on the garment rack where the suit jacket is hanging. With Prentice sitting on the bed Virginia kneels down and removes Prentices socks and stows them in his hamper.

He holds his plate out and Virginia puts two slices of roast on his plate. Prentice continues to hold his plate until she puts a third slice of meat on the plate then he sets it down in front of her to enable her to put the other dishes on the plate then sets it ever so in front of Prentice and waits until she is given a gesture indicating she may sit down.

Life give you gift.

The sign kept falling over, so I had the brilliant idea to back the car up to the sign so the garment rack could lean against the car. I got out of the car and heard Amber wailing. I couldn't figure out what was wrong with her until I looked at the sidewalk. There, all over the concrete and running down into the street, was three batches of cold lemonade! And the pitchers--well, let's just say that plastic does shatter and I'll be putting in a Pampered Chef order for three new pitchers! "What happened?" you may be asking. From what I can tell, the sign bumped my big chair that bumped the little table with the pitchers of lemonade.

As soon as church ended, Amber and I raced home to set up the lemonade stand.  We got home and set up two kiddie tables and chairs. Then we placed three full pitchers of lemonade and a bucket of ice on one of the tables. I had taped the sign to a garment rack and rolled it onto the sidewalk next to the table.

I told Jackie the story, and she said that when things like that happen in our lives, we have a choice to give up or get up and move on. She said she was glad we chose to "make more lemonade!" Amber's lemonade stand was a hit, by the way.

Bought a garment at shows

Yesterday I bought a garment rack to hang my scarves at shows, but it was not easy to transport, which I figured out after half an hour putting it together, then try to remember where each pole/screw goes. Bah! So today I exchanged it for one that was the same price, with better construction, that folds flat! And, it was already assembled! I just had to screw the clips on the bottom (to hold the top bar when the rack is folded), then pop the top bar on! Sweeeeeet! Now instead of stringing rope around the walls of my canopy, I can just unfold the garment rack and hang up my scarves. Nice and professional, and MUCH better than rope and clothes pins.

My materials arrived, and I've been embossing different scarves, with great results. Every one I've done has gotten  oohs and aahhs...and I've started on my Autumn line, and each scarf I've made has people going ga-ga. I have also been comissioned to do 2 custom scarves and some custom-blended soap for an on-going client.

And on that note, one of the things we discussed was finding local places to host shows for us, and offer the host/hostess something as payment...some jewelry, a basket or scarf...something nice. Then when Mike and I went to the party at Jen and Laurent's Friday night, I was chatting with Jen about Bertie's idea, and she offered to let us host a party at their home! She's gonna speak to Laurent about it, and let me know

Tips for garment racks

A few tips to keep in mind when thinking about your garment rack needs:

Stay Consistent: Wherever possible, try to consistently use garment racks that look similar to one another with regards to material, colors and finishes. Consistency makes for seamless flow from rack to rack throughout the store.

Mind your Space: It is always a difficult line to walk between the space you have available and the products you?d like to carry in your store. Carefully selecting your garment racks for the layout of your store, may free up some room you didn?t even know you had available.

Reinforce your Brand: If you own a western wear store, don?t use a rack that looks like it came directly out of an upscale Manhattan boutique. If you own a store that caters to teenagers, don?t use a traditional garment rack that belongs in their mothers? department store. Build to your audience and reinforce your brand.

Personalize with Garment Racks

Boutique owners should consider mixing a variety of garment racks into their design, but cautions against having too much variation in materials or appearance. However, they should carry the same appearance as far as color and materials are concerned. A square rack used for displaying shirts could work fine near a circular necktie rack.

Garment racks are a fixture in retail stores worldwide. The positioning of garment racks and your ability to use them effectively are very important in successful store management. But not all retailers realize the close relationship between their garment rack layout and the personality and feel of the store. Everything each customer sees and experiences within the store contributes to the overall impression she will carry with her, and will certainly influence her likelihood of returning.

It is also important to think about your clothing racks beyond aesthetics. Consider the space you have to work with, and mix and match racks that will allow you to do the most good within that space.

The usage and layout of garment racks within your store speaks volumes to your customers and contributes to their overall experience as a shopper. That being the case, retailers need to put more thought into how clothing is displayed and what the collective projected personality of the store is as a result.

Search for a rollnig garment rack

I am moving in 2 weeks to an apartment that has no bedroom closet...part of the urban charm right?  Anyhow, I want a rolling garment rack, but I don't really want the flimsy ones I've seen at Target and the like. I was wondering if anyone knows where I can get one of the heavier silver metal ones that retail stores use? I am looking for one that is on wheels and maybe about 4 feet long.

I am excited to go to a store and ask some salesperson if I can see their garment rack. Both the Container Store and Bed Bath and Beyond have decent rolling garment racks. I purchased a relatively inexpensive one at Bed Bath and Beyond last spring , and it's held all of my heavy winter coats and heavy hangers all summer with no problem. I think you are probably smart to try and get a super strong one if it is going to be your main clothes storage place. I also have an armoire-type cedar closet that works pretty well too.

I got one rolling garment rack from bed bath and beyond back in college and used it for several years hanging all sorts of stuff on it. I also didn't spend a ton of money. Make sure to check for the weaknesses in them. I used to work in retail and even those heavy duty ones tended to break down after awhile.

you can build one fairly cheaply and it can be very sturdy. I built one before. it was like 12 feet long and 6 feet tall. used 4x4's, a long rod, some old wooden bed rails and wood screws. it was way overbuilt but never failed. if I would have used a stronger bar you could have used it as a jungle gym.
