TAMARAC (CBS4) ― The age-old battle of the sexes over the toilet seat might soon be over thanks to a new invention by a local elderly man. Men and women could make peace now when it comes to the potty.
This is a story for men, the women who love them, and the toilet seat they just won't put up.
"She keeps nagging about you guys not lifting the toilet seat, you mess up the toilet seat," said Donald Ferdinand. "Half of it is on the floor and the other half on the toilet seat."
Ferdinand is one of many men who both miss and leave their mark when they go to the bathroom. Armed with a mechanical engineering degree, Ferdinand came up with a soil-free solution.
His contraption works on the premise that men basically are too lazy to bend their bodies and lift up a seat. The solution involves no bending. You put your foot on the pedal lift, take your foot off, and it stays--do what you have.
Donald has a patent for this pedal pushing bathroom flipper. He also created a wonderful bottom warmer that can be thrown in the wash.
"It can be released from here, some tags that one has zip, and then throw it in the wash."
It sounds like Ferdinand has an obsession with toilets.
This former New Yorker, turned South Florida resident, fills his days tinkering in his garage, waiting for his bathroom flipper to become the new super bowl for men.
"Get a manufacturer to accept it and put it on the market, and then you become a millionaire in your 70's. Hopefully, that would be sweet," he said.
While Ferdinand waits for his bathroom flipper to take off, this retiree is working on his next invention, so get your bathroom seat warmer ready, and flush away.
