No snow day. No snow even. You could call today a "wind and rain day" but they don't close school for that. We all woke up and felt a little deflated when we looked out at our bare, wet patio. Sigh.... And then we all proceeded with business as usual.
Nevertheless, it has been a productive day. Recently I have felt renewed vigor for my role as Family Manager and have been knocking things off my To Do list right and left. I have a passion for organization but I have also always tried to cut myself some slack when in the throes of raising a baby. Well, Pumpkin is fast approaching 3 years old and left babyhood behind some time ago (at least according to the calendar and strict definitions of babyhood- she is certainly still MY baby). She spends three mornings a week in preschool and is capable of entertaining herself for reasonable stretches of time now. I really don't have any excuses left for not tackling those corners of my house that have suffered during my organizational hiatus.
Today, it was the boy's bathroom. I loaded up an entire garbage bag with expired medicines, band aid wrappers (yes, there is a trash can in the bathroom), used flossers (again, yes there is a trash can), toothpaste encrusted toothbrushes, and bottles of sunscreen with barely enough lotion left in them to protect one person's big toe. Like I said, I've been on hiatus. After today you could walk into their bathroom and I wouldn't hold my breath hoping you don't happen to open a cupboard door or drawer. Now, I would probably race in ahead of you and proudly fling open all of the cupboards and drawers for you to admire. The counter is gleaming, every hidden surface is immaculate, and organization reigns supreme. Who knew a bathroom could bring one desperate housewife such bliss? I think I might sleep in there tonight.
