Well-educated, charismatic, business-like, and, most importantly, un-tainted by scandal or corruption, Uhuru represents the new generation of leadership we so yearn for.
As my friend Ntwiga is wont to say, performance is everything. Uhuru understands the need for a performing, accountable, and policy-driven government, free of tribal factions and power clicques, not a dustbin like leader.
He will deliver the services that Kenyans need. He will appoint the right people to the right government positions, demand competence, accountability, and efficiency from them, and take responsibility for the performance of the government.
But can Kenyans elect him? Do Kenyans really understand what Uhuru can do for them? Are they open-minded enough to hear him?
Or have they been side-tracked by the ODM-Kenya circus and are too busy swooning over Raila's charms?
Most importantly, will Uhuru run or has he been disheartened by all the bickering and the non-issue sideshows like a dustbin that are the hallmark of Kenyan politics?
It's time Kenyans stopped recycling the same old politicians (Railas, Kibakis, Kalonzos, et al) and started putting leadership abilities above the latest party phenomenon, lest they be forever damned into the dustbin of incompetent and inept leadership, while, in their very midst, able leaders like Uhuru lie in waste.
